Job description
In this role, you'll take a lead in creating a safe, therapeutic and recovery-focused environment for patients on Ash Ward.
Working closely with the Ward Manager, you'll be responsible for coordinating clinical activity across the ward. This includes leading shifts, managing staffing effectively, and ensuring patient care is prioritised and delivered to a high standard. You'll be confident working both independently and collaboratively, setting the tone for best practice and professionalism within the team.
You'll play a central role in the clinical management of patients, supporting the planning, delivery and review of care within the multi-disciplinary team. You'll ensure that care plans are current, risk assessments are completed and reviewed, and that any changes in a patient's mental or physical health are recognised and acted upon promptly.
Leadership is a key part of this role. You'll provide guidance, supervision and support to junior staff, helping them to develop their skills and confidence. You'll contribute to a positive team culture, acting as a role model and promoting high standards of care, communication and teamwork.
You'll also work within relevant legal and professional frameworks, including the Mental Health Act and consent and capacity legislation. Safe medication management, accurate documentation, and adherence to professional standards will all be essential elements of your day-to-day practice.
Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you'll contribute to service development and improvement. This includes taking part in audits, supporting training, and ensuring that quality improvement and clinical governance are embedded into everyday practice.
