About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and commercially driven Store Manager to lead our team at Clarks Scarborough.
As Store Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the performance and day-to-day operation of the store. You will lead from the front, driving sales and delivering exceptional customer service while creating a positive and high-performing environment for your team.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Commercial Performance
- Take full responsibility for achieving and exceeding store sales targets and KPIs.
- Lead the team to maximise every customer interaction and sales opportunity.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly performance and take action where required.
- Drive the store commission scheme and ensure the team understands and achieves performance expectations.
- Analyse sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.
- Maintain strong commercial awareness of products, promotions, customer trends, and local competition.
- Set clear expectations and motivate the team to achieve results.
Customer Experience
- Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service.
- Ensure every customer receives a welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional experience following our companies sales structure “Energise”
- Maintain high standards of Clarks' specialist measuring and fitting service.
- Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally and effectively.
- Build strong relationships with regular customers and the local community.
People Management & Development
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop the store team.
- Set clear individual and team objectives.
- Hold regular performance conversations and provide constructive feedback.
- Recognise and reward strong performance.
- Identify development opportunities and support colleagues in progressing their careers.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and motivated team environment.
- Manage rotas and staffing levels effectively to meet the needs of the business.
Store Operations
- Take overall responsibility for the smooth and efficient running of the store.
- Maintain excellent standards of visual merchandising, housekeeping, and store presentation.
- Oversee stock management, deliveries, replenishment, and stock accuracy.
- Ensure cash handling, banking, and financial procedures are completed correctly.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, security, and loss prevention.
- Ensure all company and franchise procedures are followed consistently.
- Manage the store effectively during busy trading periods, including Back to School and key seasonal events.
Leadership
- Act as a positive role model for the entire team.
- Lead confidently and make effective decisions in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Take ownership of challenges and identify practical solutions.
- Communicate effectively with the wider management team and franchise partners.
- Support other stores within the business when required.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience as a Store Manager, Assistant Manager, or experienced retail supervisor.
- Proven experience of achieving sales targets and KPIs.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Commercially aware with a strong focus on results.
- Confident managing rotas, staffing, stock, cash, and store operations.
- Ability to coach and develop a team.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and peak trading periods.
Desirable
- Experience within footwear, fashion, or lifestyle retail.
- Experience managing a commission-based sales environment.
- Experience with children's footwear and specialist fitting.
- Experience working within a franchise or multi-store retail environment.
