About Access SEN
Access SEN is a specialist alternative provision supporting children and young people aged 5–25 with SEND and complex needs.
Founded by specialist teachers, our approach is built around understanding the individual learner and creating personalised education that is meaningful, measurable and relevant to their life.
We provide learning in students' homes and within the community, using real-world experiences to develop communication, independence, regulation, social skills and confidence.
Our vision is to create meaningful opportunities for young people to develop the skills and resilience they need not only now, but throughout their lives and into adulthood.
We are a growing company and we're looking for a Specialist Teacher who wants to grow with us and be part of that journey.
The Role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Specialist Teacher to deliver personalised learning to a range of young people across the Bolton area.
This is not a traditional classroom-based teaching role.
You will work with individual learners in their homes and within the community, creating meaningful learning opportunities around their individual strengths, needs, interests and outcomes.
Depending on the learner, this could involve supporting a young person to develop communication and self-regulation, build independence, access their local community, develop resilience or prepare for their next stage of education.
You will be expected to think creatively about what learning looks like for each individual and recognise that progress can look very different for every learner.
Areas of learning may include:
- Communication and interaction
- Independence and life skills
- Self-regulation and emotional wellbeing
- Emotional awareness and resilience
- Confidence and social skills
- Transition support into other education settings
- Community access and engagement
- Travel training and developing confidence in the community
- Developing positive learning behaviours and routines
Learning will be linked to each learner's personalised plan and intended outcomes, with a focus on making progress that is meaningful and measurable.
About You
We are looking for someone who shares our passion for personalised, inclusive education. You will recognise the value of learning through real-life experiences and activities that support each learner's individual goals.
You will ideally:
- Be a qualified teacher with experience of working with children and young people with SEND and/or complex needs
- Have experience of creating and delivering personalised learning
- Be confident adapting your approach to different communication, sensory and learning profiles
- Be passionate about developing independence, communication and self-regulation
- Understand the importance of emotional wellbeing and building positive relationships
- Be creative and confident delivering learning in homes and community settings
- Be able to recognise and celebrate small but significant steps of progress
- Have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working alongside families, other professionals and support staff
- Be confident working independently and undertaking lone working
- Be reliable, reflective and able to use your initiative
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Experience of working with learners with autism, severe learning difficulties, ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs, EBSA, global developmental delay or other complex needs would be highly desirable.
Why Join Access SEN?
At Access SEN, we don't want to simply provide an alternative to education. We want to create meaningful opportunities for young people to learn, grow and develop skills that have a lasting impact.
Our staff are carefully matched to learners and work as part of a wider team around the young person. We value collaboration, personalised approaches and continued professional development.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us at a time when Access SEN is growing.
The role will initially be up to 13 hours per week, but there is genuine potential for this to increase as our student numbers grow. We are looking for someone who is excited by what we are building and would like to come on the journey with us.
If you are passionate about specialist education, believe in the potential of young people with complex needs and want to make a genuine difference to their everyday lives and future, we'd love to hear from you.
