We are looking for a detail-oriented Transaction Monitoring Specialist to join our Compliance team. You will monitor customer transactions, investigate financial crime alerts, and help ensure compliance with AML/CTF regulations while working closely with the MLRO.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing daily transaction activity across the company’s payment flows to detect potential money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or unusual patterns;
- Investigating alerts generated by the transaction monitoring system and clearing or escalating them in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory frameworks;
- Conducting in-depth investigations into cases/potential cases of money laundering and reporting internal suspicious transactions to the MLRO, where necessary;
- Assisting the MLRO with the preparation of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and supporting documentation;
- Performing enhanced due diligence (EDD) where triggered by transaction activity or risk indicators;
- Monitoring existing accounts to ensure account activity remains consistent with the client’s KYC profile and expected transactional behaviour, and escalating deviations;
- Checking clients and counterparties against internal and external blacklists and sanctions lists, and providing recommendations on client acceptance or exit;
- Maintaining accurate, audit-ready records of investigations, decisions, and outcomes;
- Supporting ongoing improvements to monitoring systems, rules, scenarios, and thresholds;
- Assisting staff with compliance and anti-money laundering queries;
- Staying current with regulatory updates and typologies related to financial crime;
- Participating in audits and regulatory reviews, and ensuring alignment with FCA, JMLSG, and international AML guidelines;
- Providing other services in accordance with the tasks and objectives set by the Ordering Customer.
Job Requirements
- Solid understanding of transaction monitoring processes, alert investigation, and escalation workflows;
- Familiarity with Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CTF) regulations, including the UK Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and JMLSG guidance;
- Knowledge of customer due diligence processes (Enhanced Due Diligence, Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB));
- Understanding of payment services and e-money products is an advantage;
- Experience investigating suspicious activity and drafting internal SAR escalations (preferred);
- University degree;
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail;
- Strong organisational and time-management skills;
- Proactive and determined approach;
- Previous experience in a Transaction Monitoring, Compliance, or Financial Crime role within the financial industry (preferred);
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
- Languages: English (Russian considered an advantage);
- Experience using case management systems (e.g. Zendesk) and financial crime compliance platforms such as LexisNexis, Sumsub and ComplyAdvantage is an advantage.
