You've probably heard of B&M as a customer, but there's much more to us than our stores. With over 780 stores across the UK, more than 36,000 colleagues, and our continued growth as a FTSE 250 business, there's never been a more exciting time to join us. Following an internal move, we have an opportunity for an experienced Regional People Business Partner to join our People team on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
This is a highly visible, field-based role supporting a region of 100+ stores across the North West. Partnering closely with the Regional Operations Manager, Area Managers and Store Managers, you'll lead the regional people agenda, develop leadership capability, build future talent pipelines, and drive performance through people.
This role is about more than providing HR support. You'll be a trusted partner to operational leaders, spending time in stores, coaching managers, identifying and developing future leaders, and ensuring people priorities are embedded across the region. Combining strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, you'll make a direct impact on colleague engagement, leadership effectiveness and business performance.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Leading and deliver the regional people strategy, aligning talent and workforce priorities with commercial objectives.
- Partnering with senior operational leaders to drive performance, strengthen leadership capability and build high-performing teams.
- Spending time across the region coaching, supporting and influencing Area Managers and Store Managers to deliver excellent people outcomes.
- Driving succession planning and leadership development, ensuring robust talent pipelines for critical management roles.
- Identifying high-potential talent and support the development of future leaders through coaching, development planning and career conversations.
- Utilising people data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities, influencing business decisions and people outcomes.
- Leading colleague engagement initiatives and drive a culture of accountability, development and continuous improvement.
- Supporting workforce planning, organisational change and business transformation initiatives across the region.
- Championing colleague wellbeing, organisational effectiveness and an inclusive culture where colleagues can thrive.
The skills & experience you’ll bring:
- Significant experience in a People or HR Business Partner role within a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
- A genuine passion for developing leaders, coaching managers and building high-performing teams.
- Proven experience in talent management, succession planning, leadership development and organisational capability.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to align people priorities to operational and financial objectives.
- A track record of influencing and constructively challenging senior stakeholders to drive positive outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use people data and insight to inform decision-making.
- A proactive, resilient and hands-on approach, comfortable spending time in stores and building strong relationships across all levels of the business.
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery and operational execution.
