Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Sous Chef to join our vibrant culinary team! As a key player in our kitchen, you will support the Executive Chef in overseeing daily food operations, ensuring exceptional quality and presentation. Duties
- You are responsible for acting as the second-in-command, supporting the head chef in all aspects of kitchen management.
- To ensure proper mise en place, it’s prepared for service and supervised by junior kitchen staff.
- Ensure that you and your team maintain high standards of food hygiene and adhere to health and safety regulations, working in a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Responsible for training new kitchen staff, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.
- Ensure high-quality food production, preparation, and presentation by maintaining a sharp attention to detail.
- Responsible for handling and storing ingredients properly, maintaining freshness, and adhering to food safety standards.
- To ensure good communication with all your colleagues and superiors. Relaying information about menu changes, special requests, and ingredient availability.
- Ensure the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen, including managing workflow, handling issues, and coordinating with other departments.
- Expected to contribute to the development of new dishes and menus, bringing your creativity and passion to Dover Street Counter menus.
- Ensuring proper stock rotation, reducing waste, and assisting HC with stock takes.
- Prepared to attend every shift with all necessary equipment to carry out your duties.
- Carry out any reasonable request made by Management or the Head Chef.
Skills
- Proven supervising experience in a fast-paced culinary or restaurant setting
- Strong background in food production, preparation, and cooking techniques
- Effective team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead diverse staff members
- Extensive kitchen experience with a focus on culinary excellence and food safety practices
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and front-of-house staff
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, serving procedures, and hospitality standards
- Leadership qualities that inspire confidence, accountability, and continuous improvement
Cash Incentives:
- Loyalty Bonus - For every 6 months of service completed, the employee will receive a £300 cash bonus in their next pay check (hourly paid employees only).
