Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our accountancy practice on a full-time basis. Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience using Xero, Sage and QuickBooks and be confident managing bookkeeping and VAT work for a portfolio of clients.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients.
- Process sales and purchase invoices, payments and receipts.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure transactions are correctly coded.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Reconcile control accounts, customer and supplier balances.
- Process and maintain bookkeeping records using Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
- Prepare VAT returns and assist with other VAT-related work where required.
- Communicate with clients regarding bookkeeping queries and outstanding information.
- Ensure client records are complete, accurate and kept up to date.
- Manage workload across multiple clients and meet agreed deadlines.
Skills
Essential
- At least 5 years experience working within an accountancy practice.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero, Sage and Quickbooks.
- Experience preparing VAT returns and knowledge of the different VAT schemes.
- Experience of handling a portfolio of clients.
- Excellent attention to detail with high accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise workload.
- Good communication skills for collaborating with team members and clients.
- Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and accounting practices.
- AAT qualification or equivalent bookkeeping qualifcation.
Desirable
- Experience using Dext, Apron or a data capture equivilant.
- Experience assisting with year end accounts preparation.
- Knowledge of Making Tax Digital requirements.
- Experience using IRIS or other practice/accountancy software.
Pay: £28,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
