Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Barista & Pastry Sales Assistant to join the team at Grué, an artisanal patisserie based in Altrincham. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing espresso-based drinks, and handling takeaway pastry sales.
This is a part-time role with short shifts and the potential to progress to a full-time position as the business grows. The role is ideal for someone passionate about coffee, food quality, and delivering a warm, efficient customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Take customer orders and package takeaway pastries with care and attention to presentation
- Prepare and serve mainly espresso-based coffee drinks using a professional coffee machine
- Deliver friendly, professional, and efficient customer service at all times
- Handle payments accurately using the till system
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the front-of-house area and coffee station, in line with food safety and hygiene standards
- Carry out very basic food preparation when required
- Refill and restock front-of-house items as needed during shifts
- Follow all health, safety, and food hygiene procedures
- Support the team during busy periods to ensure smooth daily operations
Qualifications
- Comfortable working in a customer-facing, takeaway-focused environment
- Previous barista experience is essential, with confidence using a professional espresso machine
- Experience in a bakery or patisserie environment is a strong advantage
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards is desirable
- Good time management skills and ability to handle peak periods calmly
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- English is required; French is a bonus but not essential
- Latte art skills are a plus
- Reliable, punctual, and well-presented
