Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Head Baker to lead our bakery operations and culinary team. This role is responsible for overseeing daily production, maintaining exceptional product quality, and driving innovation while ensuring efficient workflows, waste control, and full compliance with food safety standards. The ideal candidate is a skilled artisan with strong leadership abilities and a passion for developing both products and people.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee daily baking and pastry operations to ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency.
- Manage production schedules and workflows to meet demand while minimising waste and downtime.
- Maintain high standards across all products, including baking, cake decorating, and presentation.
- Create and refine recipes in line with seasonal trends and customer preferences.
- Drive innovation while maintaining consistency and brand standards.
- Continuously improve production processes and kitchen workflow.
- Lead, train, and mentor the bakery team, fostering a positive and high-performing environment.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
- Train staff in culinary techniques, knife skills, and proper food handling procedures.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with management to align production with sales forecasts and business goals.
- Support catering and restaurant operations as required.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through product quality, consistency, and presentation.
Skills & Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior or leadership baking role
- Strong expertise in baking, pastry arts, and cake decorating
- Solid understanding of food production and food safety standards (HACCP)
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Experience with inventory control, supplier coordination, and cost management
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Previous restaurant or catering experience is desirable

Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
