We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Assistant Retail Manager to support the day-to-day running of our Durrington store.
About the role
As Assistant Retail Manager, you will support the Retail Manager in maximising sales, delivering an excellent customer experience, and ensuring the smooth operation of the store. You will lead by example, inspire volunteers, and help grow support for Marie Curie within the local community.
You will be responsible for

Assisting the Retail Manager in maximising sales through high standards of merchandising, display, layout and stock rotation.

Pricing donated goods appropriately and ensuring attractive product presentation.

Keeping up to date with retail trends and competitor activity to maximise sales opportunities.

Maximising Gift Aid income and ensuring bought-in goods are correctly displayed and administered while minimising stock loss.

Encouraging customers to round up their purchases, make additional donations, and sign up to our loyalty scheme.

Coaching volunteers and colleagues to deliver excellent customer service and meaningful supporter engagement.

Building relationships within the local community to increase customer visits, stock donations, volunteer recruitment and community involvement.

Supporting the recruitment, induction and management of volunteers.

Ensuring that all staff and volunteers follow Marie Curie policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.

Taking responsibility for the overall operation and management of the store in the absence of the Retail Manager.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:

Previous retail experience, ideally within fashion or clothing retail.

Experience of cash handling and financial administration, including sales record completion.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.

The ability to communicate with tact, professionalism and discretion.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
-
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
-
A good understanding of health and safety within a retail environment.
Desirable
-
Experience of managing, motivating or supporting volunteers.
