Role Overview
We are looking to appoint a Credit Controller to support the effective management of customer accounts and the company’s cash flow.
The role is responsible for ensuring timely collection of outstanding debt, accurate allocation of payments, and maintaining clear and structured control of customer accounts.
This position requires a proactive and organised individual who can manage customer relationships effectively while ensuring adherence to company credit control procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cash Collection & Account Management
- Ensure all outstanding payments are collected efficiently and within agreed terms
- Proactively contact customers regarding due and overdue balances
- Build and maintain effective relationships with customers to support timely payment
2. Payment Processing & Allocation
- Accurately allocate all incoming payments (BACS, cheque, cash) to the correct customer accounts
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or unallocated payments
- Maintain accurate financial records at all times
3. Debt Recovery & Control
- Follow company credit control procedures for overdue accounts
- Escalate issues where necessary in line with internal processes
- Maintain clear and comprehensive records of all recovery actions taken
4. Customer Queries & Issue Resolution
- Handle customer queries in a timely and professional manner
- Work with internal teams to resolve account or invoice-related issues
- Ensure customer communication is clear, consistent, and well-documented
5. Credit Control Administration
- Process customer credit notes following appropriate authorisation
- Review credit account applications and prepare for approval
- Support the processing of invoices, including scanning and accurate record keeping
- Issue customer statements and manage related correspondence
6. Data Accuracy & Record Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer account activity
- Ensure all documentation is properly filed and accessible
- Support a structured and organised approach to financial record keeping
7. Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure adherence to company policies and credit control procedures
- Support ISO objectives and contribute to responsible use of resources (reuse/recycle/reduce)
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency within the role
8. General Duties
- Support the wider Accounts function as required
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the smooth running of the business
Key Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in a credit control or accounts role
- Is confident dealing with customers and managing payment conversations
- Has strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Is well organised and able to manage workload effectively
- Is comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Has good communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable
- Experience working within a B2B environment
- Credit control experience preferred
- Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems
- Experience handling high-volume accounts

Pay: £31,500.00-£33,000.00 per year
