The Role
The Capacity and Planning Manager is a pivotal role on site working closely with all departments. Balancing your time between short term planning, focused on service, and mid-term planning, ensuring future capability of the site to deliver the sales forecast. As a member of the broader supply chain function within the integrated division, you will act as a voice into and out of the site on all supply related matters providing an excellent opportunity grow your network whilst supporting the site and division.
Main Role & Responsibilities
- Lead a team of two production planners and effectively influence stakeholders both within and beyond the Stalybridge operation.
- Find win-win solutions for internal operations and customers that deliver >98% OTIF in the most efficient and cost-effective plans.
- Balance loadings between assets and manage offload/transfer work from other sites as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end production processes, from raw materials to finished goods, including inventory management.
- Contribute to setting Stalybridge’s operational, sales, and capacity strategy.
- Collaborate with the sales teams to develop accurate sales forecasts and align production/capacity plans accordingly.
- Analyse large amounts of production and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement, cost take out, and risks.
- Promote a climate of continuous improvement and employee motivation and involvement at all levels, by participation in SKOPE.
- Primary site contact for UK Paper, managing paper stock levels via VMI, including paper forecasting and owner of associated master data
- Supporting the site management team in ensuring we are always audit ready (external & internal audits), including working to SMETA and BRCGS standards.
Person Specification
To be successful in this role you must have;
- Proven experience in a production planning management role, preferably in a similar industry.
- In-depth knowledge of production planning principles and best practices.
- Understanding of inventory flows, inventory management, and S&OP principals.
- Demonstrated experience in people management, including communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in utilising production planning software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- High level of computer and software literacy, e.g. Excel, Power BI, SharePoint.
- Strong understanding of continuous improvement processes.
