Dental Practice Manager
Herne Hill Dental Practice – South London
Full-time | Monday–Friday, 9:00am–6:30pm | £salary negotiable, depending on experience
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and highly organised Dental Practice Manager to join our established private dental practice in South London.
This is a key leadership role within the practice. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the day-to-day running of the practice, lead and support the team, maintain high standards of patient care and compliance, and work closely with the Principal Dentist to help develop and grow the practice.
The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time managing the practice, with approximately one day per week supporting reception and remaining involved in the patient journey.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day running of the dental practice
- Managing, supporting and motivating the reception and clinical teams
- Organising staff rotas, holidays and day-to-day staffing requirements
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and staff development
- Maintaining and monitoring CQC compliance, practice policies and procedures
- Ensuring appropriate health & safety, infection control and clinical governance processes are followed
- Managing practice systems and ensuring they are used effectively
- Optimising the appointment book and practice diary
- Monitoring practice performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Supporting treatment coordination and improving patient communication and treatment acceptance
- Dealing confidently with patient queries, concerns and complaints
- Monitoring stock, suppliers and practice expenditure
- Working closely with the Principal Dentist on the continued development and growth of the practice
- Providing reception cover approximately one day per week when required
- Helping to create a positive, professional and welcoming environment for both patients and staff
Essential Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working as a Dental Practice Manager, or significant experience in a senior dental management/reception role
- Strong knowledge of Software of Excellence (Exact) – this is essential
- Experience working within a private dental practice
- Good understanding of CQC requirements and dental compliance
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence dealing with patients, staff and external suppliers
- A proactive approach and the ability to identify problems and implement solutions
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of how to improve practice performance
The Person
We are looking for someone who is proactive, professional and commercially minded, rather than someone who simply manages the administration.
The ideal candidate will be someone who naturally takes ownership, sees what needs to be done and gets it done.
You should be comfortable working independently, making decisions and holding yourself and the wider team to high standards.
We would particularly welcome applications from managers who have previously helped a practice improve its systems, patient experience, team performance or profitability.

Working Hours
Monday–Friday: 9:00am–6:30pm, will consider part time as well
One-hour unpaid lunch break.
