We are currently seeking to recruit a new Automotive Technical Apprenticeship Development Coach to join our Mazda manufacturer apprenticeship programme covering the South of England.
The Mazda Apprenticeship Programme is responsible for the development of apprentices across retailer networks in the UK. Apprentices are undertaking a Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair and Autocare Technician Apprenticeships at Level 2 and 3.
Key Responsibilities
The Technical Apprenticeship Development Coaches are responsible for undertaking regular development, coaching and review visits, conducted in the apprentice’s dealership location, and via online meetings.
They will manage, and track progress against agreed targets, progression planning, learning evidence management (eg. the collection of job cards, e-Learning progress, coaching to develop wider knowledge and skills and functional skills progression), timely achievement and the ongoing health, safety, and wellbeing of apprentices; ensuring that at all times visits follow a defined visit process, compliant with ESFA and Ofsted requirements.
About You
You enjoy playing an active and supporting role in the development of apprentices. You take ownership of your work, and are motivated by the prospect of helping others succeed. You have an organised approach, and excellent communication and coaching skills.
The successful candidate should have experience in a similar role and/or a background in automotive technical areas. You will use your knowledge and skills to help coach and develop the apprentices through to their programme and final EPA assessments.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Automotive technical workshop experience, at level 3 or equivalent
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with ability to Influence, challenge, negotiate and to manage conflict and difficult situations
- Understand Management Information Systems to be able to demonstrate and monitor progression towards achievement targets
- MS office skills, and able to use technology such as laptops and tablets
- Knowledge and experience in learner safeguarding and wellbeing
- Experience in being responsible for own workload, diary management and working independently to tight schedules
- Maths and English qualification Level 2
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar role as a Regional Coach, or Apprentice Assessor
- Automotive technical electric and hybrid vehicle qualification and practical experience
- Working knowledge/experience of Apprenticeship programmes and the requirements and related inspection framework
- Assessment, training or teaching qualification or a willingness to undertake a qualification (Teaching, training & assessing learning L3)

Salary & Benefits: Up to £39,000 dependant on experience. Contract: Permanent / Full Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday / 40 hours per week
Place of Work: This is a regional role. Candidates will cover an agreed caseload of apprentices. Travel to dealers/retailers across the South of England will be a key aspect of this role. Some overnight stays may be required. Days may not start or finish at regular times and flexibility is essential. Occasional visits to manufacturer training academy in Bedfordshire will be necessary.
