Furnished Homes is a well-established, family-run business with over 30 years of experience delivering furniture and white goods to housing providers across the UK. We work with local authorities, housing associations, charities and private organisations, helping people move into fully furnished homes quickly, efficiently and with excellent customer service.
Due to maternity leave, we're looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused Planner to join our busy Planning team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive, experienced team that plays a vital role in ensuring our nationwide delivery operation runs smoothly every day.

About the Role
As a Planner, you'll be responsible for coordinating daily delivery schedules, arranging appointments with customers and planning efficient nationwide delivery routes. Working closely with drivers, warehouse colleagues and customer service teams, you'll ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time.
No two days are the same. You'll need to be able to prioritise changing workloads, respond quickly to operational changes and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
As a Planner, you will:
- Plan efficient daily delivery routes using route planning software, mapping systems and geographical knowledge.
- Schedule customer delivery appointments and confirm delivery details.
- Maximise vehicle utilisation while ensuring realistic delivery times.
- Produce daily delivery paperwork and maintain accurate customer records.
- Monitor delivery schedules and respond to operational changes throughout the day.
- Liaise with drivers, warehouse teams and internal departments to keep deliveries running to plan.
- Handle customer enquiries professionally and manage expectations.
- Support vulnerable customers with empathy and patience.
- Resolve routine scheduling issues and escalate where appropriate.
- Maintain excellent levels of accuracy while working to strict deadlines.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who can remain calm under pressure, enjoys working in a busy operational environment and has excellent organisational skills.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in planning, logistics, transport coordination or scheduling.
- Experience working in a fast-paced office environment.
- Excellent customer service experience, particularly over the telephone.
- Strong administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to prioritise multiple tasks and changing workloads.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Good geographical knowledge and route planning awareness.
- Confidence using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP/planning software is desirable.
