Schools Mutual Services is working in partnership with secondary schools and academy trusts across the Black Country, including Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton, to recruit enthusiastic and adaptable Secondary Supply Teachers for daily and long-term assignments starting in September 2026.
We are particularly interested in teachers of Maths, English and Science, as these subjects are consistently in high demand across our partner schools. However, we welcome applications from teachers of all secondary subjects.

The Role
We're looking for adaptable Secondary Supply Teachers who can confidently deliver engaging lessons while maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour.
Assignments range from daily classroom cover to long-term teaching placements, providing continuity for pupils and valuable flexibility for teachers.
You'll be responsible for:
- Delivering pre-planned lessons within your subject specialism
- Covering lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and, where appropriate, Key Stage 5
- Creating a positive and engaging learning environment
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Following school safeguarding and behaviour procedures
- Adapting lessons to meet the needs of individual learners
- Providing feedback to departments and teaching staff where required
- Assessing and monitoring pupil progress during longer-term assignments
- Supporting pupils with SEND, EHCPs or additional learning needs where appropriate
- Building positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and school leaders
What we're looking for

You should have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills Status (QTLS), or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Recent experience teaching within UK secondary schools
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to adapt quickly to different schools and departments
- A flexible, reliable and professional approach
- Strong curriculum knowledge within your subject area
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
