We are looking for a motivated Purchasing Administrator to join our dynamic Supply Chain team in Hertford. Role Purpose
As a Purchasing Administrator, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient procurement of goods and services to support operations. You will be responsible for managing purchase orders, maintaining supply continuity, and supporting cost-effective buying aligned with business needs.
You’ll work closely with suppliers, production, and internal teams to ensure materials are delivered on time, issues are resolved quickly, and purchasing processes run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
· Purchase stock, consumables, tools, equipment, and customer-specific items
· Ensure goods and services are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively, and in alignment with the organisation’s strategic goals.
· Review and process order acknowledgements to reduce risk of errors, minimise disputes and avoid delays
· Monitor supplier performance to ensure on time delivery and continuity of supply
· Resolve purchasing problems such as order discrepancies, missing or delayed shipments, quality issues, replacements, invoice issues
· Liaise with suppliers and internal teams (production, sales, supply chain) to ensure alignment
· Support the procurement team in the process of sourcing and maintaining suppliers as well as delivering cost reduction in line with the company procedures
· Prepare reports and perform data analysis
· Maintain accurate records and organised filing systems
· Build strong professional relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
· Provide additional support to the team as required to ensure smooth operations
Person Specification:
Skills & Experience:
· Strong organisational and administrative skills.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
· High attention to detail and accuracy.
· Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
· Ability to present business information logically and methodically.
· Desirable: Experience in purchasing, manufacturing, fast-paced environments.
