The post holder will be expected to work within a team environment
providing a robust and comprehensive clerical service, together with
general administrative tasks for the Department.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Open and prioritise incoming post as Standard Operating Procedure.
2. Make and receive telephone calls and fax correspondence as directed.
3. To provide administrative support service to the department including inputting of data.
4. Maintain department databases and spreadsheets as appropriate
5. Effective liaison with relevant wards and departments within the hospital and other providers
associated with the department to ensure a prompt and effective communication system.
6. To provide a welcoming and professional approach to all members of the public and staff attending
the department.
7. Undertake general office duties including photocopying, scanning and filing.
8. Communicate department information to the management team as required.
9. Ensure that up-to-date written and electronic records are maintained in accordance with professional
and Trust standards
10. Keep up-to-date with any computerised systems introduced and attend any training required.
11. Monitor stock levels of stationery and highlight shortfalls as appropriate.
12. Deputise for other team members during periods of absence.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
