Location: Thames Valley Region
We are looking to appoint an experienced Sub Agent to join our team, managing projects from contract award through to successful completion.
Working closely with the Site Agent or Project Manager, you will play a key role in coordinating site operations and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality and environmental standards. You will combine strong technical expertise with effective team leadership and client management to support successful project outcomes.
Key Duties
- Manage and coordinate site activities from contract award through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely and in accordance with programme, quality and environmental requirements.
- Lead and support site engineers, coordinating setting out, checking, survey information and the effective communication of drawings, specifications and construction information.
- Plan and manage construction activities, including method statements, risk and COSHH assessments, permits, plant and material requirements and, with appropriate training, temporary works and lifting operations.
- Manage subcontractor activities and maintain accurate project records, including as-built information, site diaries and allocation sheets.
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and the wider project team, promoting collaboration and identifying opportunities to enhance project performance and secure repeat work.
About You
You will be a confident and organised construction professional with a strong engineering background and proven experience progressing into a Sub Agent role within a civil engineering contractor.
You will bring:
- An HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related construction discipline, together with a relevant, valid CSCS card.
- Proven experience in a similar position with a medium to major civil engineering contractor.
- Strong practical knowledge of site setting out, checking, construction processes and health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to make decisions and effectively manage engineers, subcontractors and site activities.
- A full UK driving licence. SMSTS, First Aid at Work, National Water Hygiene/EUSR and chartered status or progress towards professional membership (e.g. ICE/CIOB) are desirable.
