Job Title: Assistant Manager
Location: Newton Abbot, Devon, UK
About East Street Pub Company
We’re a family-run, independent hospitality group based in South Devon. Our focus is simple: great food, great drinks and great hospitality that makes people feel welcome. Every one of our venues has its own personality, supported by a team that shares the values of kindness, respect and a passion for creating memorable experiences. Joining us means being part of an independent, hands-on group that cares about its people as much as its customers.
About Twelve Twenty
Twelve Twenty sits right at the heart of Newton Abbot, overlooking the town’s iconic clock tower, the inspiration behind our name. By day, it’s known for brunches, coffee, laid-back catch-ups and a steady flow of familiar faces. By night, it turns into one of the town’s go-to spots for cocktails, small plates, live music and a lively weekend buzz.
Alongside the main bar and restaurant area, Twelve Twenty also offers a private upstairs function space, a terrace, and outdoor seating. These are key parts of the venue that host celebrations, parties, community events and bespoke gatherings. These are important commercial assets, and a core part of what this role will lead and grow.
The venue already enjoys a strong reputation locally: warm, upbeat, friendly and full of character. Now we’re looking for a Manager who can build on that success and elevate it even further, someone who brings fresh ideas, thrives in a social environment and wants to shape the next chapter of a well-loved, ever-growing venue.
Role Overview
As Assistant Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day of Twelve Twenty. This is a hands-on, guest-facing role where energy, creativity and attention to detail matter. You’ll guide a confident front-of-house and bar team, maintain high operational standards, and ensure every service feels smooth, welcoming and full of personality.
You’ll also take ownership of our private function areas, terrace and outdoor spaces, ensuring they stay active, appealing and well used, working with our internal team to promote the spaces, drive bookings and deliver memorable occasions that fit the Twelve Twenty atmosphere.
You’ll work closely with the General Manager and the wider East Street Pub Company team to grow the venue, strengthen its reputation and create reasons for guests to keep returning.
