At UCL, we believe that the people we attract and engage are fundamental to delivering our world-leading research, education and innovation. As part of an ambitious transformation of recruitment across the university, we are evolving from a traditional recruitment service into a modern, data-led talent acquisition function that delivers exceptional outcomes at scale.
Unitemps is UCL's in-house recruitment agency, providing temporary staffing solutions to departments across the university. Located in the heart of our Bloomsbury campus, the service creates valuable employment opportunities for students and alumni while helping UCL access flexible, cost-effective talent. As Branch Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of contingent workforce delivery at one of the world's leading universities.
This is a leadership role for an experienced recruitment professional who thrives in high-volume, operationally complex environments. As Unitemps Branch Manager, you will lead the performance, growth and continuous improvement of UCL's contingent workforce service, ensuring the efficient delivery of temporary staffing solutions across a diverse and dynamic organisation.
You will be accountable for service performance against ambitious KPIs, financial sustainability, stakeholder satisfaction and team capability. Working closely with senior leaders, hiring managers and HR colleagues, you will use data, market insight and operational intelligence to optimise processes, improve productivity and deliver measurable value. You will also champion service innovation, helping to simplify ways of working and enhance the experience of both hiring managers and temporary workers.
This is an opportunity to lead a service with genuine social impact—supporting UCL's academic mission while creating meaningful employment opportunities for students and graduates.
Please note this is a fixed term contract role covering maternity leave The role is available from 1st Sept 2026 until 31st October 2027 and is offered on a hybrid working basis with a minimum of 3-days onsite (subject to change/ needs of the role) at our Bidborough House office.

You are an accomplished recruitment leader with experience managing high-volume recruitment, contingent workforce, MSP, RPO, agency or workforce solutions operations. You bring a strong understanding of temporary staffing, workforce planning and employment legislation, alongside a track record of delivering outstanding operational performance and commercial results.
You are comfortable working with data and management information to drive decisions, improve service delivery and demonstrate value. Equally, you are an engaging people leader who knows how to build high-performing teams, develop capability and create a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and customer focus.
Naturally collaborative and credible with senior stakeholders, you can influence, challenge and build trusted relationships across complex organisations. Resilient, action-oriented and commercially minded, you are motivated by the opportunity to modernise services, solve problems at scale and make a lasting contribution to an institution that is changing the world through education and research. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who are passionate about inclusive recruitment and creating opportunities for diverse talent to succeed.
