Business Performance Manager
Location: Near Battle, East Sussex
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience) + performance bonus

This is not a traditional management role.
We are looking for someone who enjoys understanding how a business works, analysing data, improving processes and making things happen. You will work closely with the Managing Director and Operational Director, helping turn strategic decisions into practical actions that improve performance across the entire business.

About the Role
As Business Performance Manager, you will become a key member of our leadership team.
You will provide the information, reporting and coordination that enables the business to make informed decisions, improve efficiency and deliver projects successfully.
You will attend management meetings, ensure agreed actions are implemented, monitor progress across departments and provide meaningful business intelligence that supports continual improvement.
The role will also coordinate the flow of work between Sales, Technical, Production, Purchasing, Operations and After Sales, ensuring projects progress smoothly and customers receive an outstanding service throughout their journey.
Key Responsibilities
Business Performance
- Produce weekly and monthly management reports.
- Develop KPI dashboards and performance reporting.
- Analyse operational and financial data.
- Identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Produce meaningful business insights rather than simply reporting figures.
- Monitor departmental performance against agreed objectives.
Project & Performance Management
- Coordinate projects across the business.
- Ensure actions agreed at management meetings are completed.
- Maintain action trackers and project plans.
- Monitor deadlines and escalate issues where required.
- Hold departments accountable for delivering agreed actions.
- Report progress directly to the Managing Director.
Business Improvement
- Review business processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Help implement new systems and procedures.
- Support the ongoing digital transformation of the business.
AI & Technology
- Identify opportunities to use AI and automation throughout the business.
- Improve reporting through automation.
- Help implement new software and digital tools.
- Research emerging technologies that improve productivity and customer experience.
Sales, Operations & After Sales Coordination
- Coordinate projects from initial order through to completion.
- Ensure smooth communication between Sales, Technical, Production, Purchasing and Operations.
- Coordinate our After Sales activities to ensure customer enquiries, warranty issues and outstanding actions are managed efficiently and resolved promptly.
- Monitor project progress and customer delivery schedules.
- Identify bottlenecks and help departments resolve them before they impact customers.
- Ensure an excellent customer experience from enquiry through to aftercare.
Information & Reporting
Provide timely information and analysis covering:
- Sales performance
- Manufacturing performance
- Productivity
- Labour efficiency
- Financial performance
- Purchasing
- Stock
- Delivery performance
- Customer service
- After Sales performance
- Quality
- Project progress
- Business forecasting
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with numbers, understands how businesses operate and has the confidence to challenge processes where improvements can be made.
Essential Experience
- Experience in a manufacturing, engineering or technical business.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Experience producing management reports and KPI dashboards.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Experience coordinating multiple departments and priorities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience presenting information clearly to senior management.
- Ability to analyse data and make practical recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems.
- Power BI or similar reporting software.
- AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or similar.
- Workflow automation tools.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Prince2, Agile or other project management qualifications.
- Experience implementing new systems or business processes.
