Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Self Employed Handyman to provide a wide range of maintenance, repair, and installation services to residential and commercial clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects independently. This role offers flexibility and the opportunity to build a diverse portfolio of work, catering to clients' varying needs across the local area. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering high-quality workmanship while maintaining professional standards at all times.
Responsibilities
- Conduct repairs and maintenance tasks across various systems, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
- Interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams to complete installations or repairs accurately.
- Operate and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) as required for automation tasks.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and metalwork using appropriate techniques and safety procedures.
- Carry out electrical work such as wiring, circuit testing, and system upgrades in compliance with safety regulations.
- Apply mechanical knowledge to service machinery, engines, or equipment as needed.
- Supervise or oversee other tradespeople or apprentices when required, ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients regarding project scope, progress, and completion.
- Manage multiple projects independently while maintaining organisation and attention to detail.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards and company policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in general maintenance, repairs, or related trades.
- Knowledge of schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in welding techniques and electrical systems installation or repair.
- Mechanical knowledge with experience in machinery servicing or fabrication.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership skills with previous supervising experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills in English; able to explain technical issues clearly to clients.
- Customer service orientation with a professional approach to client interactions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects efficiently.
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for travel between sites.
