SIOP Master Scheduler
Job Purpose:
The SIOP Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining and communicating the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to ensure customer demand, production capacity, material availability and inventory objectives are effectively balanced.
Working across Sales, Operations, Procurement, Production, Engineering and Finance, the role will provide a robust forward-looking production plan and ensure that the organisation has the right capacity and resources in place to meet customer requirements.
The role will play a key part in the company's Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process, providing accurate planning information, identifying capacity and supply constraints, and driving actions to improve schedule adherence, customer service and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
SIOP & Master Scheduling
- Own and maintain the company's Master Production Schedule across relevant production areas.
- Translate customer demand and agreed forecasts into achievable production plans.
- Lead the detailed planning element of the SIOP process, ensuring alignment between demand, supply, capacity and inventory.
- Develop and maintain a rolling production plan across appropriate time horizons.
- Identify future capacity, labour, material and production constraints and communicate these proactively.
- Balance customer demand, production capacity, inventory levels and operational priorities.
- Ensure the production schedule reflects current demand, capacity and material availability.
- Support the development of scenarios and contingency plans for changes in demand, capacity or supply.
- Ensure changes to the Master Schedule are controlled, communicated and understood by relevant stakeholders.
Production Planning
- Create and maintain detailed production schedules in line with customer requirements and manufacturing constraints.
- Work closely with Production Managers and Team Leaders to ensure schedules are achievable and realistic.
- Monitor production progress against the agreed schedule and identify risks to delivery.
- Re-plan where necessary in response to breakdowns, material shortages, labour constraints, quality issues or changing customer priorities.
- Minimise unnecessary production changes, downtime and schedule disruption.
- Review production performance and identify opportunities to improve schedule stability and adherence.
Demand & Capacity Planning
- Work closely with Sales and Customer Service to understand changes in customer demand and priorities.
- Review forecasts and order demand to identify emerging capacity requirements.
- Maintain visibility of available and required production capacity.
- Conduct capacity analysis and highlight potential bottlenecks.
- Support long-term capacity planning and investment decisions through accurate planning data.
- Identify opportunities to improve utilisation of people, machinery and production resources.
Inventory & Materials
- Work closely with Procurement and Materials Planning to ensure materials are available in line with the production schedule.
- Identify and escalate potential material shortages that may impact customer delivery.
- Support the management of inventory levels in line with agreed targets.
- Balance customer service requirements with working capital and inventory objectives.
- Ensure material requirements are aligned with the latest production plan.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and report on key planning and operational KPIs.
- Analyse variances between planned and actual production.
- Investigate recurring causes of schedule disruption and recommend corrective actions.
- Drive improvements in planning accuracy, schedule adherence and production efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, systems and data quality.
- Develop effective planning reports, dashboards and analysis to support decision-making.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience in production planning, master scheduling, supply chain planning or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of SIOP / S&OP principles and processes.
- Experience developing and managing production schedules.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing environments and production constraints.
- Experience of capacity planning and demand versus supply analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to analyse and manipulate large datasets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain a strategic, forward-looking view.
Desired Criteria
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement principles.
- Advanced Excel, Power BI or data visualisation experience.

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
