Job Overview
Abacus Jack is seeking a motivated Accountant to process high quality accounts (typically micro and small businesses) and support the business growth by working in a team to deliver excellent customer experience and support the next generation of business growth.
This role is ideal for someone who loves client contact, is independent and does not want to manage a team of people. The ideal candidate for this role is intellectually curious; able to analyse complex data to identify risks and opportunities; has the capacity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment; and is driven to help improve and innovate the team’s approach to working.

The catch here is this is nothing like your traditional accountancy practices. Be yourself, dress casually, work flexibly. We use technology heavily, we use judgement to create the best bespoke advice, we have strong systems to support us. We don’t do silly rules and you won’t find timesheets here.
Essential:
- AAT Level 4 / ACA / ACCA qualified
- 4+ years’ practice experience
- Proven experience working independently
- Ability to manage workflow, prioritisation and capacity
You will not be suitable if:
- Your work is micro managed
- You want to manage a team of individuals
- You are not confident liaising with clients
- You are not looking for a full time role

A mix of Limited Companies, Individuals and some Sole Traders.
Working pattern
Washington, Tyne and Wear (hybrid – minimum 3 days in the office). Core Office Hours 10am - 2pm.
Salary £29-37,000
Salary Level depending on the size of your portfolio. Giving you the option to grow into your role.
