UEC Mechanical Engineering Ltd is recruiting experienced Platers for a long-term engineering project within a major industrial facility in the Immingham area.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and technical instructions.
- Measure, mark out and prepare steel plate and structural sections accurately to specification.
- Cut, shape and form plate using appropriate hand tools, oxy-fuel equipment and site machinery.
- Assemble and align fabricated components, checking dimensions, orientation, fit-up and tolerances.
- Secure components using approved connectors and tack welding processes where authorised.
- Assist with the positioning and installation of fabricated steelwork, vessels, tanks and associated components.
- Inspect completed work and promptly report defects, drawing discrepancies or material concerns.
- Follow all permits, risk assessments, method statements and site safety procedures.
- Check tools and equipment before use and report any faults or defects.
- Work alongside Welders, Supervisors and other trades to meet the project programme.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
- NVQ Level 3 in Plating, Fabrication and Welding, Engineering Construction Steel Structures or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Valid CCNSG Safety Passport.
- Previous plating experience within a refinery, petrochemical, power generation or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Competence in marking out, cutting, forming, fitting and assembling platework.
- Good understanding of dimensional accuracy and fabrication quality requirements.
- Strong understanding of permit-to-work systems and industrial site safety requirements.
- Ability to consistently work to demanding quality standards.
- Reliable and professional approach to work.

Hours: 44 hours per week - 9.5 hours Monday to Thursday and 6 hours on Friday
