Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Digital & Large Format Print / Artwork Operative to join our busy production team.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining artwork preparation, digital and large-format print production, internal design collaboration and customer engagement.
You will be responsible for checking and preparing customer-supplied artwork for production, working with various file formats, colour modes, bleeds, resolution, sizing and print specifications. You will also operate our Ricoh Pro C7500 digital production press, wide-format inkjet printers and cutting plotters, ensuring work is produced accurately, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
A key part of the role will be working closely with our internal design and production teams, as well as communicating directly with customers when required to clarify artwork, colours, sizes and production requirements.
We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail who can identify potential artwork or production issues early, communicate confidently and help take jobs smoothly from customer artwork through to finished production.
Duties
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare, check and amend customer-supplied artwork ready for digital and large-format print production.
- Check artwork for correct sizing, resolution, bleed, crop marks, fonts, images, colour modes and print specifications.
- Work confidently with a variety of file formats including PDF, AI, EPS, JPEG.
- Understand and work with CMYK, RGB, Pantone and spot colours, ensuring files are correctly prepared for production.
- Create and check cut paths / contour-cut artwork for plotter production.
- Work closely with our internal design team to resolve artwork issues and ensure files are technically correct before production.
- Liaise directly with customers when required to clarify artwork, colours, sizes, specifications and production requirements.
- Explain artwork or file issues clearly to customers and help obtain the correct information needed to progress their jobs.
- Operate our Ricoh Pro C7500 digital production press.
- Operate wide-format inkjet printers and cutting plotters.
- Set up print jobs, select appropriate materials and configure machine settings for different production requirements.
- Monitor print quality, colour consistency and accuracy throughout production.
- Carry out quality checks before work progresses to finishing or the next stage of production.
- Identify potential artwork, print or production problems early and take action to prevent errors, reprints and unnecessary waste.
- Carry out routine machine checks, cleaning and basic maintenance.
- Manage multiple live jobs and priorities while working to production deadlines.
- Work closely with our design, production, finishing and wider signage teams to keep jobs moving efficiently.
- Maintain accurate job information and ensure production requirements are clearly communicated.
- Keep the digital print and artwork working areas clean, organised and safe.
- Take ownership of the quality and accuracy of work produced from artwork preparation through to finished print.
Pay: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
