Job Summary
We are a small, family-run concrete business looking to recruit a Concrete Batcher / Yard Operative to join our team. Previous batching experience is not essential as full training will be given; however, a good mechanical understanding would be advantageous, as would an understanding of concrete.
The role involves operating the concrete batching plant once trained, loading concrete lorries as instructed, carrying out general yard duties, monitoring material levels, undertaking basic mechanical checks and routine maintenance, and keeping the yard, plant, and equipment clean, safe, and well organised at all times.
Job holder will also have responsibility to unlock and lock up each day potentially from 6.30am Mon to Friday, and clean batching plant daily.
The successful candidate will also be required to load the aggregate hoppers to the plant, using the on site loading shovel.
The role will require daily contact with customers collecting from our plant, together with banksman work ensuring a safe working area.

Duties
- Accurately input into computer system required concrete mixes.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools to facilitate batching tasks
- Monitor the quality of materials during the batching process and make adjustments as necessary
- Maintain and clean and the batching plant every day after deliveries.
- Open and unlock the site, wash and clean the plant and lock and close up the site each day.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times, including proper handling of equipment and materials
- Load up the aggregate hoppers using loading shovel.
Experience
- Previous ready mixed concrete experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
- Mechanical knowledge of plant is advantageous.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure in a fast-paced setting
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail are essential for success in this role

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
