This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Supervisor, Shift Manager or Team Leader from a busy café, coffee shop or restaurant chain who is ready to progress into a management role with genuine career development opportunities.
About the Role
As Assistant Store Manager, you will support the Store Manager in leading the daily operations of the café. This is a hands-on leadership role, where you'll work alongside your team to deliver outstanding customer service, maintain excellent food quality, and ensure smooth Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) operations.
We're looking for someone who enjoys leading from the front, coaching people, and taking ownership of day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in the day-to-day running of the café.
- Lead shifts and ensure smooth FOH and BOH operations.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment.
- Support the kitchen and front-of-house teams during busy service periods.
- Supervise opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure food safety, hygiene, cleanliness and company standards are maintained at all times.
- Assist with stock ordering, inventory management and waste control.
- Help manage labour, productivity and operational efficiency.
- Train, coach and motivate team members to achieve high performance.
- Handle customer feedback professionally and resolve issues promptly.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and development of new team members.
- Work closely with the Store Manager to drive sales, improve standards and achieve business objectives.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- At least 2 years' experience as a Supervisor, Shift Leader or Team Leader within a café, coffee shop, QSR or restaurant chain.
- Experience managing both Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) operations.
- A hands-on approach with the confidence to lead from the floor.
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- Experience coaching and developing team members.
- Good understanding of food safety and health & safety standards.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Experience from Brands Such As
Costa Coffee, Starbucks, Caffè Nero, Pret A Manger, Blank Street, Black Sheep Coffee, Gail's Bakery, LEON, Joe & The Juice, Greggs, McDonald's, KFC, Nando's, Five Guys, Shake Shack or similar hospitality brands would be highly desirable.
