Substance Misuse Recovery Worker
Location: Birmingham
Pay Rate: £22 per hour Umbrella
Contract Type: Temporary
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
Sanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting for experienced Substance Misuse Recovery Workers to join a dedicated service in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to support individuals affected by drug and alcohol misuse, helping them to access the right treatment, reduce harm and work towards sustained recovery.
As a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, you will manage a caseload of service users and provide person-centred support, assessments and interventions. You will work closely with individuals at different stages of their recovery journey, building positive relationships and supporting them to achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of service users with substance misuse and alcohol dependency needs.
- Complete comprehensive assessments and develop personalised recovery and support plans.
- Deliver structured one-to-one interventions and ongoing recovery support.
- Support service users to reduce the harm associated with drug and alcohol use.
- Provide advice, information and guidance around treatment and recovery options.
- Support individuals to access appropriate health, housing, employment and community services.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies and other professionals to coordinate effective support.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and risks.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date case notes and service user records.
- Monitor progress and regularly review support and recovery plans.
- Promote independence, wellbeing and positive long-term recovery outcomes.
Applicant Requirements
- Previous experience working within substance misuse, drug and alcohol services, recovery services or a closely related field.
- Experience managing a caseload and delivering structured interventions.
- A strong understanding of substance misuse, harm reduction and recovery-focused practice.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate case records.
