About Hairouna Hounds Foundation
Hairouna Hounds Foundation is currently being established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and is in the process of applying for registration with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. We are recruiting our founding Board of Trustees to help establish the charity and guide its future strategic direction.
Hairouna Hounds Foundation is an international animal welfare charity dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and the communities they live alongside in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Our mission is to improve animal welfare through rescue, rehabilitation, education and responsible ownership. We believe lasting change comes not only from rescuing dogs in need, but by addressing the root causes of suffering through education, community engagement, collaboration and sustainable partnerships.
As one of our Founding Trustees, you will help build a financially sustainable charity capable of delivering lasting impact for generations to come.

Purpose of the Role
The Fundraising & Partnerships Trustee provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Foundation’s fundraising, income generation and partnership development.
The role is to help ensure Hairouna Hounds Foundation develops a diverse, sustainable and ethical income base that enables it to achieve its charitable purposes over the long term.
This is not an operational fundraising role. The successful candidate will help shape fundraising strategy, identify opportunities, provide constructive challenge and use their knowledge, networks and experience to support the charity’s growth.
Overall Responsibilities
As a Trustee, you share collective legal responsibility for governing the charity.
This includes ensuring that Hairouna Hounds Foundation:
- operates solely to further its charitable purposes;
- complies with charity law and relevant legislation;
- uses its resources responsibly;
- protects its reputation;
- manages risk appropriately;
- acts at all times in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries.
All trustees have equal legal responsibility regardless of any specialist role.
Fundraising Strategy
Support the Board in developing and reviewing a long-term fundraising strategy by:
- Identifying sustainable income opportunities.
- Helping diversify income sources.
- Advising on fundraising priorities.
- Supporting financial resilience.
- Promoting ethical fundraising practices.
- Ensuring fundraising aligns with the Foundation’s charitable purposes and values.
Grant Funding
Provide strategic guidance on:
- Trust and foundation funding.
- Government funding opportunities.
- International grant programmes.
- Animal welfare grants.
- Educational grants.
- Environmental and community funding where appropriate.
- Grant application planning.
- Grant stewardship and reporting.
Corporate Partnerships
Support the development of meaningful partnerships with:
- Businesses.

- Pet food manufacturers.

Philanthropy & Major Giving
Help the Board develop approaches to:

Partnership Development
Provide strategic advice on partnerships with:

Help ensure partnerships support the Foundation’s charitable objectives and provide mutual benefit.

- Challenge events.

- Fundraising complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
Risk Management
Support the Board in identifying risks relating to:
- Funding dependency.
- Financial sustainability.

- Knowledge of Caribbean communities or international development.
Previous trustee experience is welcomed but not essential.
Time Commitment
Approximately:
- 8–10hours per month.
- Quarterly Board meetings.
- Annual strategy day.
- Occasional fundraising planning meetings.
- Committee meetings where appropriate.
Meetings may be attended remotely.
Term of Office
Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years and are eligible for reappointment in accordance with the Foundation’s Constitution.
Training and Support
Successful applicants will receive:

Trustee Eligibility
Applicants must:
- be at least 16 years of age (18+ preferred);
- not be disqualified from acting as a charity trustee under the Charities Act 2011;
- complete a Trustee Eligibility Declaration;
- declare any conflicts of interest;
- be willing to undertake appropriate background checks where required.

As one of our Founding Trustees, you will help establish the financial sustainability of an ambitious international charity dedicated to creating lasting improvements in animal welfare and responsible dog ownership across St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Your leadership will help ensure that the Foundation can grow with confidence, invest in long-term programmes and create meaningful, measurable impact for dogs, communities and future generations.
Pay: Up to £15.00 per hour
