Compound Team Leader
Location: Sheerness, Kent
Shift: Monday-Friday, 45 hours per week (start and finish times may vary in line with operational requirements)
Salary: £31,800 per annum
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x after 45 hours per week
Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm
We are currently recruiting for a Compound Team Leader to join a busy automotive operation in Sheerness. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Team Leader or Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day running of a large vehicle compound, ensuring operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Working across a large outdoor compound, you will lead and support a team of Compound Operatives while acting as a key point of contact for operational issues and ensuring work is completed on schedule.
The Role:
As a Compound Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supporting, and motivating a team of Compound Operatives
- Allocating daily workloads and ensuring operational targets are achieved
- Delivering site inductions, driver assessments, and ongoing training
- Leading daily operational meetings and communicating updates to the wider team
- Responding to operational issues, including flat batteries, damaged vehicles, and missing vehicles
- Investigating incidents and completing accident reports where required
- Carrying out regular health and safety inspections and site walkarounds
- Coordinating vehicle movements, battery van requirements, locking wheel nut removals, plate changes, and other operational activities
- Managing site equipment, including PDAs and other operational tools
- Updating internal systems and maintaining accurate records using in-house IT systems
- Communicating with internal departments to ensure the smooth running of the operation
- Driving site vehicles, including shuttle buses and pool cars, when required
- Leading by example and supporting the team with operational tasks whenever needed
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions across a large vehicle compound
The Person:
- Previous experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor, or similar management role is essential
- Previous experience within an automotive compound or vehicle logistics environment is highly desirable
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Comfortable using IT systems, email, and Microsoft Office
- Proactive with a hands-on approach and willingness to support the team wherever required
- Full UK Driving Licence held for a minimum of 2 years with no more than 6 points for minor offences
- Comfortable driving manual, automatic, and electric vehicles
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
