We're looking for an Operative to join our highways works team based in Wymondham, Norfolk.
Location: Wymondham, Norfolk – site based 5 days per week
Hours: Permanent Fulltime 45 hours per week

As an Operative, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of construction and highways projects. You'll be working alongside a dedicated team, ensuring that all site duties are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on role where your contribution will directly impact project success.
What will you be responsible for?
As an Operative, you'll be working within the highways works team, supporting them in delivering civil engineering projects safely and efficiently. Your day to day will include:
- Ensuring strict adherence to health and safety requirements, including checking permits and following safe digging practices
- Carrying out general labouring tasks, groundwork, excavation support, and assisting with traffic management
- Loading, unloading, and moving materials safely around site while maintaining site cleanliness
- Working effectively as part of a team, following instructions from supervisors and communicating clearly
- Ensuring work is completed to required standards while taking care of tools, equipment, and materials
What are we looking for?
This role of Operative is great if you:
- Hold NRSWA Operative certification and have a good understanding of safe working practices within highways, utilities, or construction environments
- Are a qualified First Aider who takes pride in maintaining a safe and positive working environment for colleagues and the public
- Hold a full UK driving licence and are happy travelling to different work locations as part of a busy operational team
- Enjoy hands-on outdoor work, thrive as part of a team, and take a proactive approach to getting the job done safely and efficiently
- Bring strong organisational and problem-solving skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn, develop and contribute to high-quality work every day
