Job Description – Delivery and Collection Driver (Self-Employed)
Farplace Animal Rescue is a no-kill rescue specialising in helping animals rejected elsewhere. We operate a number of charity shops across the UK, selling furniture, clothing, bric-a-brac and electricals to help fund our rescue work and the animals in our care.
We are looking for a flexible, polite and friendly self-employed driver with their own van to assist us with delivering and collecting furniture and other items from customers’ homes.
This role is based in our Oswestry store.
Role Details
- Hours: 15 hours per week (two full days) - Will increase with demand
- Pay: £20.00 per hour (includes mileage)
- Contract type: Self-employed
- Schedule: Primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend availability
- Location: Based at our Oswestry store, with extensive travel in the local area and occasional work outside the area
- Vehicle Requirement: You must provide your own LWB or Luton-style van
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and deliver donated items, including furniture and electrical goods
- Undertake house clearances, transferring suitable donations to the shop
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and keep accurate mileage records
- Ensure the safe handling, loading and unloading of goods, including heavy lifting
- Maintain excellent customer service standards and represent the charity professionally
- Ensure the security of all goods collected, transported and delivered
- Follow all health and safety policies both in-store and at customer locations
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Your own LWB or Luton-style van
- Ability to carry out heavy lifting safely
- A professional, helpful and positive attitude when dealing with customers
- Flexibility to adapt to varying workloads depending on deliveries and collections
