Job Title: Before and After School Club Assistant
Hours of Work: 7:30am – 8:45am and 2:45pm – 6:00pm (before and after school)
Location: Safari Club Runwell (Before & After School Provision)
Reports to: Safari Club Manager
Role Purpose
Safari Childcare is looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and caring individual to join our Safari Club team. You will be responsible for supporting children in our before and after school sessions, creating a safe, welcoming, and fun environment where children can relax, play, and learn.
No formal childcare qualifications are required — what matters most is your passion, dedication, and commitment to giving children the very best start and end to their school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Safety
- Ensure children are safe, happy, and engaged at all times.
- Follow all safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
- Play & Activities
- Set up and support a range of fun and stimulating activities (arts, crafts, games, sports, reading).
- Encourage positive interactions, cooperation, and inclusion.
- Care & Support
- Help children during snack times, supporting healthy choices.
- Be approachable and supportive to children, listening to their needs.
- Environment
- Help create a calm, organised, and welcoming space.
- Support tidy-up routines and care for resources.
- Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth running of the sessions.
- Build positive relationships with parents, updating them on their child’s time at Safari Club.
Person Specification
Essential:
- A level 2 or 3 qualification in child care in desireable but not essential
- A genuine passion for working with children.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Friendly, caring, and approachable.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to complete training (safeguarding, first aid, food hygiene).
- Previous experience working with children (paid or voluntary).
- Awareness of safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
