Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CNC Miller Setter/Operator to join our manufacturing team in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC machinist to take responsibility for programming, setting and operating our Hartford Vertical Machining Centre, equipped with Fanuc control and a 4th axis.
Working from 2D and 3D engineering drawings, you will produce high-quality precision components to demanding specifications and tight tolerances.
THE ROLE
You will be responsible for:
- Programming, setting and operating a CNC vertical machining centre.
- Working from 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
- Selecting appropriate cutting tools and determining suitable feeds and speeds.
- Setting and adjusting cutting offsets.
- Using jigs, fixtures, vices and other work-holding equipment.
- Carrying out first-off inspections and making program adjustments where required.
- Machining components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
- Using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and thread gauges.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a CNC Miller / Programmer / Setter / Operator.
- Proven experience programming, setting and operating a vertical machining centre.
- A strong understanding of cutting tools, feeds, speeds and raw materials.
- Good knowledge of work-holding methods, including jigs, fixtures and vices.
- The ability to confidently interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
- Experience inspecting components and making appropriate adjustments to achieve required tolerances.
- A strong eye for detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
