Job Description - Mechanic / Technician
NVQ level 3 Mechanic Technician
Starting Salary £35,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)
45-50 hours - shift flexibility required.
Base location – HATS vehicle workshop, London SE16 3LP.
We are looking for a skilled NVQ level 3 Mechanic Technician to maintain and repair our vehicles at our Southeast London workshop. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality. They should be well-versed in complex mechanical or electronical systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities.
Responsibility’s - will include but are not limited to.
- Routine maintenance & servicing
- Knowledge of use of diagnostic scanner tool
- Planned maintenance inspections (PMI)
- MOT preparation and repair
- Tyre fitting, wheel balancing and repairs
- Wheel torque and quality control
- Wheel balancing
- Battery replacement
- brake replacements discs and pads shoes and drums etc
- clutch replacements and repairs
- steering and suspension repairs
- light bulbs and lamp replacements
- attend vehicle breakdowns and recover back to depot.
- make sure all vehicles are road worthy and compliant.
To service, repair and maintain a diverse fleet of vehicles and specialist ambulance equipment to emergency use standards, using the requisite skills and expertise in line with current Health and Safety legislation. The post holder will be able to work without close supervision to the highest standards to achieve acceptable levels of quality on vehicles specifically and distinctly designed for HATS Group.
Interpret and implement technical service data and statutory maintenance standards to ensure that all work performed is in excess of the minimum standard defined. Examine, inspect, and rectify ambulance and equipment faults including functional testing together with their scheduled servicing.
Service, maintain, adjust, or repair vehicles and their components to a high standard utilising the necessary tools, equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient manner. Keep up to date with vehicle developments.
As part of your training and development you will be required to attend training courses as and when necessary. The service also offers staff the opportunity of personal development plans. Liaise on technical issues and to work alongside manufactures as and when the need arises.
Report in a timely manner on vehicle defects, accident damage and other issues related to vehicles or workshops to the Operations Director
Apply the company policies in respect of maintenance practice and standards and ensure that maximum benefit is obtained in terms of equipment available and to ensure economic use of materials minimising total maintenance costs.
The post holder must be prepared to travel to other company sites, to meet the requirements of the company for operational, training and business continuity purposes.

Experience:
- Working in the motor industry: 2-3 years (required)
- Diagnostic device experience.
- hybrid and electric vehicle system.
Licence/Certification:
- UK manual driving licence - no more than 6 points (required)
