Overview
Local person wanted to join our dedicated team as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), where your compassionate support will assist our client, an adult male to continue to live independently as a permanent wheelchair user in his own purpose built bungalow. The client, lives independently and directs his own care. The duties include some personal care, housework and looking after dogs. The location of property is not close to public transport.
Duties
- Assist client with daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort and independence
- Help with laundry, light household chores and meal preparation.
- Maintain clear communication with other team members and client.
- assist with routine vet visits
Skills
- Strong communication skills in English to effectively interact with client and visitors to his home.
- good empathetic interpersonal skills with a caring and respectful attitude.
- ability to adapt and work with initiative to ensure a safe and positive home setting
- a positive, can do attitude but willing to be directed by client
- need to be confident in handling dogs
- experience of working with a permanent wheel chair user is helpful, but not essential
This role is worked over a 2 week rota, including alternate weekends. Morning shifts are 9am-1pm and currently evening shifts 5pm-8pm are available as extra hours on a rolling 3 month basis. This role is perfect for a motivated individual eager to provide compassionate support whilst maintaining a homely atmosphere for the client.
Pay: £13.50-£14.50 per hour
