About the Role
Prudent Health is seeking an experienced and values-driven Registered Manager to lead our Supported Living and Domiciliary Care services across Lancashire.
The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the safe, effective and person-centred delivery of care to 30+ service users, while providing strong leadership to the operational team and ensuring continued compliance with the requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
This is a key leadership position, combining regulatory compliance, operational management, people leadership, quality assurance and service development. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining high standards of care while supporting the sustainable growth of our services across Lancashire.
Key ResponsibilitiesCQC & Regulatory Compliance
- Act as the CQC Registered Manager for the service and ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Lead the service in meeting the CQC's five key questions: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.
- Ensure compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and relevant DoLS requirements.
- Lead CQC inspections, Provider Information Returns (PIRs), action plans and quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage safeguarding concerns, statutory notifications, complaints, incidents and Duty of Candour requirements.
- Ensure policies and procedures are current, implemented effectively and regularly reviewed.
Supported Living & Domiciliary Care Operations
- Provide operational oversight of Supported Living properties and community-based domiciliary care services across Lancashire.
- Ensure person-centred care plans, risk assessments, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and health action plans are accurate, current and regularly reviewed.
- Manage staffing levels, rotas, cover arrangements and continuity of care.
- Participate in and lead the 24/7 on-call arrangements for the Lancashire services.
- Oversee medication management, MAR charts, medication audits and staff competency assessments.
- Lead the assessment, admission and transition process for new service users, including compatibility and risk considerations.
People Management & Leadership
- Recruit, induct, develop and retain a high-performing care team.
- Manage Deputy Managers, Team Leaders, Senior Support Workers, Support Workers and Coordinators.
- Ensure regular supervision, annual appraisals, spot checks and competency observations are completed.
- Maintain high compliance with mandatory training, including the Care Certificate, MCA, DoLS, PBS, Autism, Learning Disability, Medication, First Aid and Moving & Handling.
- Manage performance, disciplinary and grievance matters appropriately and in line with organisational procedures.
- Promote a culture centred on dignity, respect, choice, independence and person-centred support.
Quality, Performance & Finance
- Complete and oversee regular audits covering care plans, medication, finance, health and safety and infection prevention and control.
- Monitor service budgets, occupancy, commissioned hours and hours delivered.
- Build effective relationships with Lancashire County Council, ICBs, social workers, families, advocates and other key stakeholders.
- Work closely with Business Development to identify opportunities to increase commissioned hours and develop the Lancashire service.
- Oversee petty cash and service-user finances where applicable.
Essential RequirementsQualifications
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (Adults), or currently working towards the qualification.
- Willingness to complete the qualification where required.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within Supported Living or Domiciliary Care.
- Strong experience supporting people with Learning Disabilities, Autism and/or Mental Health needs.
- Demonstrable experience managing care teams and delivering high-quality regulated services.
Regulatory Knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations and regulatory frameworks.
- Good understanding of Mental Capacity Act (MCA), DoLS, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), STOMP and safeguarding.
- Experience leading services through CQC inspection and quality assurance processes.
Operational & Leadership Skills
- Strong experience in staff rostering, recruitment, workforce management and rota planning.
- Experience managing budgets and monitoring service performance.
- Strong communication, leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work confidently with commissioners, families, professionals and multidisciplinary teams.
Other Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle – essential.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Two satisfactory professional references.
Desirable Experience
- Experience managing 30+ staff and 20–30+ service users.
- Previous experience working with Lancashire County Council, Blackburn with Darwen or Blackpool commissioners.
- PBS/BILD-related qualifications or experience.
- Experience using electronic care planning systems such as Nourish, Log my Care, Birdie or Person Centred Software.
Working Pattern
The role is based on 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with additional on-call responsibilities.
The Registered Manager will participate in an on-call rota, typically 1 in 3 or 1 in 4, providing management support outside normal working hours.
The role will involve travel across Lancashire, including Preston, Chorley, Blackburn, Burnley and Blackpool.
