Job Purpose
The Childcare Lawyer will provide high-quality legal advice and representation in childcare matters, supporting the organisation in safeguarding and child protection proceedings. The role involves managing a caseload of childcare matters, undertaking advocacy responsibilities, and representing the organisation in court proceedings.
- Manage a caseload of childcare and safeguarding legal matters.
- Provide legal advice and guidance on childcare legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare legal documentation, witness statements, and court applications.
- Conduct advocacy in court proceedings, including contested final hearings.
- Attend court hearings and represent the organisation as required.
- Work closely with social care teams, external agencies, and stakeholders to support case progression.
- Ensure all casework is managed in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate case records and provide timely updates on proceedings.
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with relevant practising certification.
- Significant experience handling childcare law matters.
- Proven advocacy experience, including attendance at contested final hearings.
- Strong knowledge of childcare legislation and safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to attend court hearings at least twice per week.
- Hours per week: 37 hours
- Payment schedule: Bi-weekly payments
- Working pattern: Monday to Friday
- Location: Hybrid / court attendance required
