Overview
Flexible Learning School is a well-established alternative provision supporting approximately 150–200 pupils, both on-site and online. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and structured environment for young people with a range of additional needs.
The Role
You will lead on whole school responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the School (including online safety and understanding the filtering and monitoring systems in place). You will ensure the School is statutorily compliant and maintains a strong culture of safeguarding.
Your role includes:
- Overseeing the School’s safeguarding policies and procedures
- Ensuring they are up-to-date and effective
- Taking part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings and contributing to the assessment of children
- Advising and supporting staff on child welfare
- Safeguarding and child protection matters
- Liaising with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police
- Training staff and managing a team of DSLs.
You will have:
- DSL qualification – ideally at level 5
- Excellent knowledge of KCSIE, Safer Working practice, Prevent and Online Safety
- Substantial experience of DSL work in an education environment, preferably secondary
- Excellent organisational skills and communication skills
- Significant experience of managing challenging conversations with pupils and parents around safeguarding and well-being
- Experience of Multi-agency working and an understanding of the role of agencies in keeping children safe
Pay: £30,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
