We are currently seeking a pro-active and experienced Catering Supervisor to lead our cafe and contribute to the overall success of our city campus.
The Supervisor is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy university café, ensuring excellent customer service, high food safety standards, and efficient team performance. The role involves supervising staff, maintaining operational standards, and creating a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Team supervision and direction motivating and supporting café team members
- Allocate daily tasks and ensure adequate staffing levels
- Train, coach, and develop employees
- Conduct shift briefings and promote effective communication in the team
- Lead by example by demonstrating excellent customer service and professionalism
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times
- Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally
- Build positive relationships with students, university staff, and visitors
- Ensure the café provides a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly atmosphere
Food Safety and Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, and HACCP procedures.
- Monitor food quality, storage temperatures, allergen controls, and cleaning schedules
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment
- Ensure all staff follow food hygiene regulations and university policies
You’ll have previous supervisory experience from a café or similar catering environment along with good organisational and time management skills. The ability to remain calm in busy times is a must and to demonstrate great communication skills to the team.
Whilst not essential it would be advantageous if you have a Level 3 food safety certificate, a first aid qualification and barista experience.
