As the Café FoH supervisor, you will take ownership of the parts of Café operation, working closely with the wider management team to deliver exceptional food/drink, smooth service, and a positive team culture. The Café FoH Supervisor supports the FoH Manager and Café Manager in overseeing daily operations, leading the front-of-house team, and ensuring excellent customer service. This role is hands-on and requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a passion for hospitality. A supervisor's job involves managing day-to-day operations, including staff supervision, inventory control whilst maintaining shop presentation and cleanliness. Key responsibilities include supporting a team, managing stock and deliveries, handling sales and cash, and ensuring a safe and compliant environment.
Job description and responsibilities
1. Staff and team management
- Supervise, motivate, train and develop team members
- Support Managers in work schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Brief the team on promotions, and policy changes.
- Delegate and communicate outstanding tasks
- Coach and manage training for employees for eg. HACCP/LOGIT/FLOW
- Provide feedback on employees for performance/probationary reviews
- Drive a positive, professional and supportive kitchen culture
- Use leadership and communication skills to delegate tasks accordingly
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- You will lead by example, keeping the team motivated, engaged, and focused during service
- You may be required to conduct one-to-one meetings with team members to provide feedback, support development, and address any performance, absence or wellbeing concerns
2. Inventory and stock control
- Monitor and maintain stock levels, including restocking displays and refrigerators.
- Ensure stock is rotated to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
- Order supplies from suppliers when needed.
- Monitor food lifecycle check eg. Temperature checks on delivery
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory control
3. Customer service and sales
- Provide excellent customer service, assist customers, and handle complaints professionally.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and product quality
- Operate the till, process sales, and perform end-of-day cash reconciliation.
- Manage online orders and delivery arrangements.
- Build positive relationships with regular customers
- Ensure the café environment is welcoming, clean, and organised in all areas
4. Operations and compliance
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe environment according to health and safety guidelines.
- Ensure the kitchen complies with all relevant regulations for food safety, and general health and safety.
- Comply and monitor HACCP, LOGIT checks; ensure staff conduct required checks.
- Supervise day-to-day café operations to ensure smooth service
- Oversee opening and closing procedures
- Complying with HACCP procedures and daily Logit reports
- Ensure consistency during busy breakfast, brunch, and lunch services
- Assist with event planning, such as special dining, events or workshops.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to achieve business goals.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure cleaning schedule/temp checks are completed on time.
- Support quality control for food and beverage preparation, maintaining consistency
Administration & Reporting
- Assist with cash handling, POS reconciliation, and daily reporting
- Support the FoH/Café Manager with rostering and operational planning
- Communicate effectively with management regarding issues/improvements
- In the absence of the FoH/Café Manager, you will act as the senior on duty, always maintaining professionalism and discretion and using positive, supportive terminology when representing the business

- Must be flexible to work weekends and across various sites within Cheshire
