Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes within your designated section, adhering to recipes and presentation standards.
- Oversee the mise en place for your section, ensuring all ingredients are prepared and ready for service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of your work area in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff and support team members during busy service periods.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate with the head chef regarding ingredient requirements or shortages.
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety standards, including proper storage and handling procedures.
- Collaborate with other sections to ensure seamless service delivery and uphold the restaurant’s reputation for quality.
- Contribute ideas for menu development and seasonal specials to enhance customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar culinary role within a restaurant environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen hygiene.
- Demonstrable skills in meal preparation, plating, and presentation techniques.
- Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen setting with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of food production.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Formal culinary training or relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential if accompanied by substantial practical experience.
