Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our care home team. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced, and appetising meals for our residents, ensuring all dietary requirements and preferences are met.
You will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of elderly residents by providing high-quality meals in a warm, homely environment.
Duties
- Prepare and cook meals in line with planned menus and resident dietary requirements
- Ensure food is prepared safely and hygienically in accordance with food safety standards
- Cater for special dietary needs including allergies, diabetic, soft diets, and cultural requirements
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, equipment, and storage areas
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
- Work closely with care staff to understand residents’ preferences and needs
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations
- Minimise food waste and support cost-effective meal preparation
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Cook, preferably in a care home or healthcare setting
- Enhanced DBS required
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above desirable)
- Good understanding of dietary requirements for older adults
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate, patient, and passionate about caring for others
- Reliable, organised, and able to manage time effectively
