We're looking for a commercially minded Management Accountant to join our growing finance team within a manufacturing business operating across multiple locations. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to play a key role in delivering financial insight, supporting strategic decision-making and driving business performance across the business.
Working closely with the Financial Controller, Directors and operational teams across multiple locations, you'll be responsible for producing accurate management information, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and identifying opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency and financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
- Support multi-location financial reporting, ensuring accurate and consistent information across sites.
- Deliver clear variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior year, with meaningful commentary and recommendations.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Assist with annual budgeting, regular forecasting and cash flow projections.
- Monitor departmental and site expenditure, sales performance and financial targets, highlighting key variances and opportunities.
- Business partner with Directors and operational managers across multiple locations, providing financial insight to support decision-making and improve performance.
- Prepare financial models, ad hoc analysis and reports to support business cases and investment decisions.
- Monitor stock valuations, investigate discrepancies and support stock takes and inventory controls across locations.
- Assist with standard costing and analyse product and operational costs to identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Maintain effective financial controls, including timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support VAT returns, cash flow and working capital reporting, invoice discounting, payroll reconciliations and audit requirements.
- Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, systems and reporting.
- Participate in monthly business reviews, presenting financial results and recommendations to senior management.
- Work collaboratively with the wider finance team and provide support to junior colleagues where appropriate.
Key Requirements
- Part-qualified, finalist or qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA status.
- Experience in a Management Accountant or similar role, ideally within a manufacturing or multi-site environment.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial analysis experience.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage, SAP or similar.
- Experience with stock, costing and financial controls.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- A commercial mindset with a passion for improving business performance.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders across multiple locations.
