Education Support Worker (Challenging behaviour) – HD9 / Holmfirth / Melton
6 x Full time roles available – term time only or year-round, drivers and non drivers.

Core hours 8.30am-3.30pm Monday-Friday (plus driving time if a driver)
£13.10p/h starting rate rising to £14.50 after probation.
The service is a brand new education unit opening in September for children excluded from mainstream and SEN schools due to challenging behaviour. They will provide ASDAN education and independent living skills in the community and classroom.
We are looking for 6 staff with previous experience of working with children or people with challenging behaviour. Excellent further training will be provided in-house (medication, team teach, first aid, moving and handling)
Term time only (Kirklees) and year round contracts are both available. Driving license preferred but not essential.
Ideal start date is August to receive training before teaching starts in September.
The role:
- Working in the Education Unit with children with challenging behaviour and disabilities including autism, ADHD, defiance disorder, and learning disabilities
- Supporting them to learn through helping with emotional and behavioural difficulties and de-escalating situations
- Working in line with the individual action plans for each child
- Building positive and trusting relationships with each child, and acting as a positive role model.
- If a driver, happy to drive a company vehicle and transport pupils to the unit and back home.
We are looking for:
- Previous experience of working with children or people with challenging behaviour.
- Behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- A patient, resilient and empathetic nature
- Great communication & relationship building skills, good role model
- Driving license preferred but not essential
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
- Most of all, passionate about helping service users get the most out of the service, and make a positive contribution to their learning and wellbeing.
