Coffee Shop Manager — BL_NK Coffee, Kinson, Bournemouth
£25,000 per year (pro-rata) | 30–37 hours per week | Permanent
About us
BL_NK Coffee is a small, independent, family-owned coffee shop in Kinson, Bournemouth, open 7 days a week. We're three friends who set the place up ourselves, and we care about doing good coffee properly and treating our team well. We're now looking for an experienced, hands-on manager to run the day-to-day and be the person the team can rely on — including the odd message outside opening hours to keep things ticking over.
The role
You'll spend 30 hours a week running the shop floor — team, service, stock, standards — plus up to an extra hour a day, paid, for staying on top of things outside those hours: rota changes, quick questions via our staff WhatsApp group, and other bits that come up. This is a genuinely hands-on role: we're a small independent shop without an assistant manager, so you'll have real ownership over how the place runs day to day. As we're open 7 days a week, the role includes regular weekend shifts as part of the rota.
What you'll be doing
- Opening and/or closing the shop, and running day-to-day service, quality, and cash handling Leading and motivating a small team, and building the weekly rota — including your own shifts — to keep the shop covered across all 7 opening days Being the go-to person for the team between shifts — covering shift swaps, quick questions, and rota changes via WhatsApp Keeping on top of health & safety, food hygiene, and cleanliness standards Managing stock levels and our supplier orders Handling the shop's day-to-day admin — passing on invoices and staff hours, and liaising with our bookkeeper to make sure everything's recorded and paid on time Running our social media and local marketing — posting updates, promoting offers, and helping build BL_NK Coffee's presence in the area Working closely with the three owners on performance, ideas, and how we can keep improving the shop
What we're looking for
Essential
- Previous experience managing or supervising in a café, coffee shop, or hospitality setting A confident, hands-on leader who's comfortable running a small team day to day Solid barista skills and product knowledge Reliable and organised, and happy to handle the occasional out-of-hours message or rota tweak as a paid part of the role Happy to work regular weekend shifts as part of the rota — we're open 7 days a week
- Food hygiene certificate (Level 2 or above)
Desirable
- Experience managing stock or supplier relationships Experience working in an independent or small business environment Comfortable putting together social media posts (e.g. Instagram/Facebook) for a small business
Pay, hours & what we offer
- £25,000 per year (pro-rata), paid monthly 30–37 contracted hours per week — 30 hours on the shop floor, plus up to 1 paid hour a day for rota changes and other admin outside those hours Worked flexibly across our 7 opening days — you'll set the rota, including your own shifts, and the role includes regular weekend working Pro-rata paid holiday entitlement Workplace pension scheme A genuinely hands-on role with a small, friendly, family-run team — your ideas will actually shape how the shop runs
