Location: Hybrid – Travel Across Wales and England
Salary - £35,000 + Bonus
Reports To: SMD Manager
Overview
Evolve HES is looking to recruit a Technical Surveyor to support the SMD department in a hybrid role, combining technical surveying with sales support functions. This position plays a key role in the successful delivery of technical surveys for ongoing client projects across Wales and England.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a survey diary through the company CRM system and attending both occupied and void properties to undertake detailed technical surveys. Surveys will involve measuring multiple elements of each property, identifying any enabling works or alterations required prior to the installation of insulation measures, and highlighting any associated building works necessary to ensure projects can proceed efficiently and compliantly.
An important aspect of the role will be transferring site measurements and survey findings into costing spreadsheets to establish accurate, property-specific costs. Survey information will also be completed digitally using iAuditor on an iPad, enabling guarantee pre-registration and ensuring project records remain accurate and compliant.
The primary measures requiring survey support include External Wall Insulation (EWI), Internal Wall Insulation (IWI), Room in Roof insulation, and Flat Roof/Warm Deck insulation systems.
Key Responsibilities
The Technical Surveyor will manage and work from a survey diary using the company CRM system, attending residential properties across Wales and England to carry out detailed technical surveys. The role involves measuring relevant building elements, assessing the suitability of properties for insulation measures, and identifying any enabling works, alterations, or preparatory building works required before installation can begin.
The successful candidate will identify property defects, access issues, or any other factors that may impact project delivery and ensure these are accurately recorded. They will transfer site measurements and survey findings into costing spreadsheets to support accurate project pricing and complete digital surveys using iAuditor on an iPad to facilitate guarantee pre-registration and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Working closely with internal teams, the Technical Surveyor will provide technical information that supports project delivery, estimating, compliance, and client requirements, while assisting the wider SMD department with live projects as required.
Skills and Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction or building surveying, with a good understanding of domestic property construction, common building defects, and the remedial works required to prepare properties for retrofit installations. Previous experience carrying out site surveys, taking accurate measurements, and producing detailed reports is essential.
Applicants should be confident in identifying pre-installation building works and enabling works, comfortable working across a variety of residential property types, and willing to travel throughout Wales and England.
Strong IT skills are required, including experience using spreadsheets, CRM systems, tablets or iPads, and digital surveying software. The successful candidate will be highly organised, self-motivated, able to manage their own workload and diary effectively, and possess excellent communication skills to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
Desirable Experience
Experience and knowledge of retrofit projects and PAS-related measures would be advantageous, particularly involving External Wall Insulation (EWI), Internal Wall Insulation (IWI), Room in Roof insulation, and Flat Roof/Warm Deck systems.
Familiarity with iAuditor or similar digital surveying and reporting software is desirable, as is an RA or DEA qualification. Previous experience supporting property costing, estimating, or pricing activities would also be beneficial.
