Join our welcoming pre-school team as a 1:1 SEN Support Practitioner and make a real difference in a child’s early learning journey. This rewarding role focuses on supporting a child with additional needs to feel safe, confident and included, helping them develop communication, social skills and independence through a nurturing, personalised approach.
Working closely with the SENCO, staff and families, you’ll play a key role in delivering tailored support and promoting positive outcomes in a supportive and friendly environment. Whether you already have SEN experience or are looking to develop in this area, training and ongoing professional development are available.
This part-time role (Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30am–3:30pm) offers a great work-life balance, with opportunities for additional hours if desired. If you’re caring, patient and passionate about supporting young children, we’d love to hear from you.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pre-school child with additional needs
- Support the child’s emotional wellbeing, learning and development
- Help implement individual support plans, reviews and strategies
- Build positive relationships with parents/carers and professionals
- Observe, monitor and record progress where required
- Support inclusion within the wider nursery/pre-school environment
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety and nursery policies at all times

A Level 3 Childcare qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
Previous SEN experience is welcomed; however, training can be provided for the right candidate. We are committed to supporting staff development and can offer relevant SEN training courses where needed.
This is a fixed-term role linked to the needs of an individual child currently in the setting. The position is expected to continue for the duration of the child’s time with us, and there may be opportunities for extension or alternative roles within the setting where available.
